About Kudoke Watches

KUDOKE is an independent German watchmaker founded by master watchmaker Stefan Kudoke in 2008. Based in Weifa in Saxony, the small family-run manufacture creates mechanical watches in two main directions: the classically styled HANDwerk collection and the more artistic, skeletonized KUNSTwerk pieces. The brand is especially known for its in-house Kaliber 1, extensive hand finishing, engraved movement components, and award-winning models such as KUDOKE 2 and KUDOKE 3.

KUDOKE is an independent German watch brand founded by master watchmaker Stefan Kudoke in 2008. Based in the small village of Weifa in Saxony, the family-run manufacture combines traditional German watchmaking with highly individual hand finishing and artistic movement decoration.

Before establishing his own brand, Stefan Kudoke trained as a master watchmaker and worked with respected names including Glashütte Original, Breguet, and Blancpain. His early independent work focused heavily on hand-skeletonized and hand-engraved watches.

Those artistic pieces now form the KUNSTwerk side of the collection. These watches emphasize hand skeletonization, engraving, sculptural movement work, and highly individualized designs, often transforming mechanical movements into elaborate three-dimensional works of art.

The more restrained HANDwerk collection was created to explore classical watchmaking through cleaner dials, traditional finishing, and KUDOKE’s own mechanical movement architecture.

At the heart of HANDwerk is the Kaliber 1, KUDOKE’s proprietary manually wound movement. Introduced as Stefan Kudoke’s first own calibre, it was inspired partly by historic English pocket-watch movements and traditional German-English precision watchmaking.

Kaliber 1 has approximately 46 hours of power reserve and features extensive hand finishing. Its movement bridge receives a distinctive frosted finish, while the raised balance cock is engraved by hand with the infinity symbol that has become a visual signature of the brand.

The KUDOKE 1 is the purest expression of the collection. Its 39mm case frames a restrained two-level dial with hours, minutes, and small seconds at nine o’clock. The manually wound Kaliber 1 is visible through the sapphire caseback.

The KUDOKE 2 adds a poetic 24-hour day-and-night display at twelve o’clock. Its modified Kaliber 1-24H uses a hand-decorated rotating sky disc and omits conventional running seconds to create a deliberately calmer interpretation of time.

KUDOKE 2 earned international recognition in 2019 when it won the Petite Aiguille Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, making Stefan Kudoke the first independent German watchmaker to receive a GPHG award.

The KUDOKE 3 introduced a more unconventional hour display. A three-armed hour hand moves across three separate hour scales while a conventional long hand indicates the minutes. The KUDOKE 3 Salmon later won the GPHG Petite Aiguille award in 2024.

The KUDOKE 5 takes the brand’s display philosophy further with a large domed rotating 24-hour disc. Its Kaliber 1-24H_L uses a specially developed low-friction bearing with zirconia balls to support the oversized rotating indication.

Cases remain relatively traditional in proportion. Core HANDwerk models generally measure around 38 to 39mm and use polished stainless steel, sapphire crystals, onion-style crowns, leather or Alcantara straps, and approximately 5 ATM water resistance.

Hand craftsmanship is central to KUDOKE. Engraving, edge polishing, surface finishing, movement decoration, and many dial details are executed manually. The company also offers special engravings, tremblage dials, precious-metal cases, and highly limited collaborative editions.

Production remains intentionally small. Stefan and Ev Kudoke operate KUDOKE as a family business with a compact team, allowing a high degree of direct craftsmanship and customization compared with larger industrial manufacturers.

Current U.S. pricing for core HANDwerk watches begins at around $10,700 for KUDOKE 1 models. KUDOKE 2 and KUDOKE 3 models generally sit above $12,000, while special tremblage executions and the KUDOKE 5 reach approximately $18,000 to more than $22,000.
