GMT Japan is a major Tokyo watch retailer specializing in luxury mechanical watches from Rolex, OMEGA, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and other leading brands. The store combines a large new and pre-owned inventory with trade-ins, consignment, in-house warranties, interest-free financing and a physical Shinjuku showroom.

About GMT Japan

GMT is a Japanese luxury watch specialist based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The watch business was launched in 2006 by Syuppin Co., Ltd., a Japanese specialist retail company that also operates businesses in cameras and other collectible product categories.

Syuppin is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market, and GMT combines a major e-commerce operation with a physical luxury watch showroom in Shinjuku. The store focuses primarily on high-end mechanical watches and maintains a large inventory of both current and collectible models.

GMT sells new, unused, pre-owned, vintage and consignment watches. Its inventory ranges from Rolex and OMEGA to Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Richard Mille, A. Lange & Söhne and F.P. Journe.

The retailer also provides watch buying, trade-in, consignment, maintenance, financing and after-sales services, making it useful both for collectors purchasing a watch and owners looking to sell or upgrade an existing piece.

Shipping & Delivery

GMT offers free shipping throughout Japan, including remote domestic destinations. Orders are securely packed in plain shipping boxes and insured while in transit.

GMT normally uses Yamato Transport and Sagawa Express, although another carrier may be selected depending on payment method, destination or requested delivery date.

For in-stock products, orders are generally dispatched within two days after payment has been confirmed. Tracking and delivery information are provided after shipment.

For security, packages identify the sender as Syuppin Co., Ltd. and describe the contents as precision equipment rather than explicitly identifying the shipment as a luxury watch.

GMT does not currently offer standard international shipping from GMT-J.com. Overseas customers can place an order only when an accepted payment method can be used and the delivery address is located within Japan.

Returns & Refunds

GMT accepts eligible online returns when the customer contacts the store no later than the day after receiving the watch. The item must remain unused and should normally be returned within three days of delivery.

For new or unused watches, bracelet adjustment can make the watch ineligible for a change-of-mind return. Watches that have been worn or otherwise altered are also excluded.

Consignment watches, special-order products, selected web-only products and purchases involving certain trade-in transactions cannot normally be returned or exchanged.

If the customer simply changes their mind, return shipping and refund-related transfer fees are the customer’s responsibility. If the watch is incorrect, damaged or has an eligible initial defect, GMT covers the applicable return and replacement shipping costs.

Customers should contact GMT before returning any watch so the store can confirm eligibility and provide return instructions.

Payment Methods

GMT offers a broad range of payment methods for domestic Japanese customers. Major credit cards include Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners Club.

Other payment options include bank transfer, convenience-store payment, PayPay, Pay-easy and selected cash-on-delivery transactions. Availability and purchase limits vary by payment method.

GMT also offers dedicated shopping credit through JACCS and SMBC. Eligible customers can finance qualifying watch purchases without applying for a separate credit card.

GMT currently promotes interest-free shopping credit for up to 60 monthly payments through eligible SMBC financing. JACCS also offers interest-free terms on shorter qualifying installment plans.

Shopping credit is generally intended for residents of Japan and is subject to age, employment, credit approval, minimum purchase amount and minimum monthly payment requirements.

Savings, Cashback & Coupons

GMT does not rely primarily on traditional coupon websites. Its strongest savings tools are direct store pricing, interest-free financing, member tickets, pre-owned watches, trade-in programs and limited-time campaigns.

Eligible shoppers can currently use shopping credit with up to 60 interest-free monthly payments, which can significantly reduce the monthly cost of a high-value watch purchase without adding financing interest.

GMT also operates an online member benefit system called preferential tickets. When an eligible ticket is available, members can select it before checkout and receive the applicable discount on qualifying purchases.

The retailer currently operates a 70% Used Watch Buyback program. Eligible pre-owned watches originally purchased from GMT can qualify for a guaranteed minimum buyback valuation of 70% within one year, subject to condition, accessories, payment completion and other program requirements.

Owners can also sell, trade or consign watches through GMT. Consignment can be attractive for collectible or high-value watches because the watch remains owned by the customer until it is sold.

Smart Ways to Save at GMT

  • Compare new, unused and pre-owned examples of the same reference.

  • Request a trade-in valuation when upgrading an existing watch.
  • Consider consignment for rare or high-value watches where maximizing resale value is more important than immediate payment.

Trust & Reviews

GMT has strong trust signals for buyers of expensive watches. The store has operated since 2006 and is owned by Syuppin Co., Ltd., a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market.

GMT operates a physical watch showroom in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where customers can inspect watches listed on the website. The company also holds the required Japanese secondhand-dealer authorization for its pre-owned business.

It is important to distinguish GMT from a traditional authorized boutique. The retailer explicitly lists only selected brands as official authorized lines, while much of its major luxury inventory is sold through GMT’s independent new and secondary-market business. Buyers should therefore check the warranty shown for the individual watch rather than assume that every new Rolex, Patek Philippe or other luxury watch includes a manufacturer-backed authorized-dealer warranty.

GMT provides its own warranty on new and pre-owned watches. Current coverage includes five years on qualifying new Rolex and OMEGA watches and two years on other new brands. Used-watch coverage varies by brand, age and price, with qualifying Rolex and OMEGA watches receiving longer coverage.

The retailer also offers optional paid accident protection for events such as accidental drops, fire and water damage, along with post-warranty maintenance, insured shipping, bracelet adjustment and repair support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is GMT Japan an authorized Rolex or Patek Philippe dealer? +

GMT sells many new Rolex, Patek Philippe and other luxury watches, but buyers should not assume that every brand is sold through an authorized-dealer relationship. GMT separately identifies its official authorized brands, while much of its luxury inventory is supported by GMT’s own warranty system.

What is the difference between New, Unused and Used watches at GMT? +

GMT separates inventory by condition. New watches are sold as new stock, Unused watches have not been worn but may differ in sourcing or warranty status, and Used watches are previously owned pieces that have been inspected and maintained where necessary. The exact box, papers and warranty details are shown on each listing.

Why is GMT especially popular for buying Rolex in Japan? +

GMT maintains a very large rotating Rolex inventory that includes current models, discontinued references and pre-owned watches. Shoppers can often compare several examples of Daytona, GMT-Master II, Submariner, Explorer and Datejust models by condition, year and included accessories.

Can I see an online GMT watch in person before buying it? +

Yes. Watches listed on GMT-J.com can be viewed at the retailer’s physical showroom in Shinjuku, Tokyo, subject to current availability. Because store and online inventory are shared, customers should confirm stock before making a special trip.

What is GMT’s 70% used-watch buyback program? +

Eligible pre-owned watches purchased from GMT can qualify for a minimum buyback valuation equal to 70% of the original purchase price when sold back within one year. The watch must meet the program’s condition, accessory and payment requirements.

Can GMT sell my watch on consignment instead of buying it immediately? +

Yes. GMT operates a consignment service for luxury watches. The customer keeps ownership while GMT markets the watch through its website and physical store, and a commission is charged when the watch sells.

Can I return a watch if it looks different in person than it did online? +

Yes, for eligible online purchases, but the return window is very short. The watch must remain unused and GMT must generally be contacted no later than the day after delivery. Consignment, adjusted, special-order and certain other products are excluded.

Does GMT Japan ship watches overseas? +

Not through the standard GMT-J.com checkout. GMT states that it does not ship internationally from its domestic website. An overseas customer may order if an accepted payment method is available and the delivery destination is within Japan.

What does GMT’s optional Anshin Service cover? +

GMT’s paid Anshin Service adds accident protection beyond the normal mechanical warranty. Depending on the plan, it can cover qualifying accidental drops, fire, water damage and certain weather-related incidents for up to five years on new watches or three years on used and consignment watches.

Can I finance an expensive watch at GMT without paying interest? +

Yes, for eligible customers in Japan. GMT currently advertises shopping credit with up to 60 monthly payments at 0% interest through qualifying financing. Approval and minimum payment requirements apply.
